Custom Home Construction
|
In
2009, I purchased my dream acreage in the Creston Valley.
The only problem was that there wasn’t a house on it.
Having a house built was never something I had planned on
doing during my lifetime as it seemed a daunting project to
take on. Fortunately, I had met Don Tilling and was
familiar with work he had done on other projects. I just
wanted a simple house built before October of 2010. I
remember telling Don that I wished I could just close my
eyes and then open them and have the house be there as I was
NOT looking forward to the process. He said “Don’t worry,
it’ll be fun”. On April 5th, 2010, Don’s crew started
work. I was very quickly impressed with the level of
organization and the work ethic of the whole crew, even
through some pretty nasty weather. Major progress was
evident daily and the next day’s supplies were always lined
up, ready to go. The lot also needed servicing with power,
water, telephone and septic and Don and his crew took all of
that work on for me, with great results.
Instead of just sticking to the house plans, they weren’t
afraid to make suggestions for changes to improve the
overall design. Change suggestions were always accompanied
with the associated
cost
and I was very happy to have incorporated those changes into
the construction. If I needed to make a decision about
anything, Don always gave me plenty of time to get back to
him, which was great as I didn’t have a lot of time to
dedicate micromanaging the building project. If there were
problems with anything, I only heard about it along with a
proposed solution. It may be unbelievable, but the whole
home building process was remarkably stress free! And fun!
My home is a simple home, but it is absolutely stunning in
it’s attention to detail. The timber frames holding up the
carport and east and west decks are the highlight of the
exterior and are just amazing. The quality of the finishing
inside the house is superb.
When it came time to find someone to build a run-in shed for
the horses, Don’s quote came in by far the lowest so it was
a very easy decision to have the crew build that as well.
Even though it’s a home for the horses, the attention to
detail and sturdiness of the structure is fantastic. I
won’t have to worry about it blowing away in the wind.
Less than 5 months after the project was started, I was able
to move into my new home. It was a wonderful experience and
I very much enjoyed working with Don and his crew, Bob,
Simon, Todd, Ryan, Graham and Dorian. The subtrades that
Don has chosen to work with – Aardvark Electric, Husband
Plumbing and Watson Drywall - all did an excellent job and
worked to Don’s timetable.
A very special thanks goes to Bob, Don’s lead foreman, whose
incredible work ethic and positive attitude really made the
whole process very enjoyable. I would highly recommend TB
Contractors to anyone looking to build a new house or
renovate an existing home.
Thank you so much for my wonderful new home!
